Biographie

Marilou Gagnon est professeure adjointe à l’École des sciences infirmières, Faculté des sciences de la santé de l’Université d’Ottawa. Boursière des Instituts de recherche en santé du Canada (IRSC) dans le cadre de ses études doctorales, Marilou s’intéresse aux changements corporels que subissent les personnes sous pharmacothérapie antirétrovirale. Son projet de recherche doctoral avait pour but de mieux comprendre les expériences de femmes vivant avec le VIH qui, une fois sous pharmacothérapie antirétrovirale, subissent de graves transformations corporelles. Son projet de recherche postdoctoral avait pour but de mettre en lumière le parcours des personnes atteintes de lipoatrophie faciale qui font appel aux traitements réparateurs. Ses travaux reposent sur des approches critiques et sociopolitiques et se concentrent sur les questions liées au pouvoir, aux discours et à la stigmatisation. À titre de chercheure, elle fait partie de la Chaire de recherche universitaire en soins infirmiers médico-légaux et travaillent sur divers projets qui portent sur la criminalisation du VIH, la discrimination des personnes vivant avec le VIH dans les milieux de soins et les droits humains. Comme infirmière, sa pratique professionnelle se situe les domaines des soins critiques et du VIH/sida.
